Supporting Recovery from Acute Psychosis While Continuing Education
At our center, our mental health professionals play a vital role in supporting young individuals experiencing acute psychosis and complex emotional challenges. We provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, individualized treatment planning, careful medication management, and continuous follow-up to promote recovery while supporting important educational, social, and personal goals.
Each treatment plan is thoughtfully designed around the client’s unique experiences, goals, and emotional needs. By combining clinical expertise with a human-centered approach, therapy becomes a safe space for healing and transformation.
01. Mental Challenge
The patient, an 18-year-old student in her final year of high school, presented to our clinic in February 2026 accompanied by her mother. She had previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia following a psychiatric assessment elsewhere, and the family was concerned that she might require long-term medication and potentially be unable to complete her final school year.
Following a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation at our center, her presentation at that stage was considered more consistent with an acute psychotic episode accompanied by symptoms of anxiety and depression.
02. Care Approach
A structured treatment plan was developed with close psychiatric follow-up, focusing on symptom control, careful medication adjustment, and preservation of the patient’s educational and daily functioning.
Psychiatric Assessment
A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation was conducted to assess psychotic symptoms, anxiety, depression, and overall functional status, while continuing to monitor the diagnosis according to her clinical course.
Pharmacological Treatment
Antipsychotic medication was initiated to manage psychotic symptoms, with additional medications used when clinically indicated for associated symptoms and treatment-related effects.
Medication Monitoring
The patient was reviewed approximately monthly, with her medication regimen carefully adjusted according to her clinical response while minimizing sedation and other effects that could interfere with concentration, sleep, and academic functioning.
Functional Support
As her condition improved, medication doses were gradually reduced under psychiatric supervision, while supporting her continued education and ability to complete her final examinations.
03. The Outcomes
After several months of treatment and regular psychiatric monitoring, the patient demonstrated significant clinical and functional improvement.
- Psychotic symptoms were effectively controlled
- Anxiety and emotional distress significantly improved
- Continued her education throughout the treatment period
- At the most recent follow-up in August 2026, she had no significant active complaints and was functioning well
- Achieved an overall academic score of 87%
- Successfully completed her final examinations
- Medication was gradually reduced to a low dose under psychiatric supervision
